Canvas Frequently Asked Questions
Before taking any course in our new Canvas LMS, you should first review the CAN100: Canvas Orientation for Students course, as this will help prepare you for your new course
How do I access my Course Content?
If this is your first time in this course, we suggest that you first click on “Start Here” for important information about your course. Course content is located in the Modules area of your course. When you enter your course, will be taken to the course “home page”, or Home. Once at the home area, you will see two icons for Start Here and Modules
Click on Modules. Once there you will see all the modules for your course
Click the module you require and it will open to show you all the content for this module, including readings, discussions, assignment and assessment if available. To access an item, simply click on the link.
Where are my Discussions?
Unlike Blackboard, which used links found in the course tools area on the left navigation area, discussions are located directly in the module you are working in. They will be denoted by module and discussion number (i.e. for Module 1, Discussion 1, the title will start with M1D1: )
To open the discussion, click on the discussion title. You will then see the discussion topic and directions. To reply, simply click on the reply button below or reply to a student posting you wish to. Please note there is no “create thread” that was found in Blackboard.
